Concrete cracks and that’s a fact!  However, it’s the responsibility of the designer and contractor to control or minimize random cracking in slabs-on-grade.  In this presentation, you’ll hear about why slabs-on-grade crack and crack control strategies.  Topics include: root causes of slab cracking, how to minimizing concrete shrinkage and slab restraints, designing and installing joints and steel reinforcement.  Anybody involved in design and construction of slabs-on-grade will benefit from this presentation.

 

Bio

Kim Basham, PhD, PE, FACI

Dr. Basham is a professional engineer and president of KB Engineering, LLC located in Cheyenne, WY.  He specializes in concrete design and construction, concrete technology, troubleshooting concrete and materials, non-destructive testing, forensic engineering and concrete research.  Kim routinely teaches seminars for the American Concrete Institute, World of Concrete, and American Society of Concrete Contractors.  He is also a contributing writer for Concrete Contractor and Concrete Surfacesmagazines
